What is a Corner Pop?

Corner pop is a common condition in slab on grade foundations. It is caused by settlement or the weight of the wall (typically brick or masonry) exerts enough downward force on the corner to crack or chip it, typically in the shape of a wedge. Eventually they will pop off, hence "Corner Pop". Even though these wedge-shaped cracks may be unsightly, they do not adversely affect the performance of the foundation. However, in some cases, some cosmetic improvements may be necessary.
